Ten Peruvian suppliers account for 94.9% of the value of the vicuna that left the country between 2025 and July 2026. The other six share what remains.

Loro Piana Peru SAC, Qori Exports SRL and Michell y Cia SA are among those ten. Their shipments are the reference the trade prices against.

Concentration at that level decides where the price of the product is set. A quotation from one of the smaller suppliers is read against what the largest ones move, whether or not either side says so.

The suppliers outside that group are real exporters with a small share of the trade, and they appear on every list of Peruvian vicuna companies. Size on this record is a fact about volume and not a verdict about the fibre.

There is no single price for Peruvian vicuna. There is a band, and the band is wide enough that any figure quoted for the product is a choice about which part of the record to look at.

Half of the shipments left the country at between 600 and 1,450 dollars a unit.

A tenth of the shipments left above 2,642 dollars a unit.

A unit is the commercial unit the shipping record carries, and the band describes what was actually invoiced on each shipment.

The same suppliers stand at both ends of that band. The spread is therefore something that happens inside a supplier rather than something that separates a supplier from another. The high end and the middle of the range leave through the same doors, under the same names.

What explains the upper end is not settled here. Finer fibre and a later step of processing are both plausible, and either would produce the same figure. What is settled is the band, and an average taken across it describes none of the shipments that produced it.

An average would sit somewhere in the middle of the band and would match nothing that anyone paid. The figure that survives contact with a real shipment is the range, together with the tenth of shipments that sits above it.

Growth is as uneven as price. A single destination grew 1,138.8% during 2026, and that destination is Germany. Italy, over the same months, grew 14.5%, from a base that already holds 79.4% of the market.

The percentages are not comparable, and the base is the reason. A small starting point turns a modest absolute change into a very large percentage, while a market that already holds most of the value can only move slowly in relative terms.

What the German figure says is that buyers there placed orders this year where there had been none. That is a change in demand and not an accounting effect, and it is the kind of movement that shows up first in a small market.

A market that grows from a small base can also fall back to it, and a single year of orders is not a trend. What the figure does establish is that the demand is there and that it is new.

Counted to the end of July 2026, Peruvian vicuna is 16 suppliers, 39 buyers and 19 destinations. Eight of those suppliers have shipped during 2026.

The count has been stable and the names inside it have not. That combination is what makes this trade readable. It is small enough to hold in one document, and it moves enough that a document a year old is describing a different set of companies.

The money sits with the largest suppliers and the price is a range rather than a figure. A quotation for Peruvian vicuna has to be read against both.
